My phone finally crapped out, so whoever has my number, don't bother calling. It's off. I dropped it on Thursday at work, and the screen was all glitched out, but still worked. Now it doesn't wanna work at all.
Those of you who are dk's, post which dps spec you are i.e., unholy dw, frost, blood, or unholy so we know which armor and weapons are part of your spec.
Hello, and welcome to the homepage for the Elune-based guild, Dimensional Death!.If you are interested in joining our guild, please make a forum account, or contact an officer in-game.
A number of you know about my personal jobless-ness situation already, but it's coming to a head, now. Basically, I've been issued the ultimatum of "Find a way to get me $300, or get out" by my mom. Not out of maliciousness, but simply because she's unable to support paying for the house over here anymore. I'll be away for an unknown time period -- I'll be on and off sporadically, but I don't know if I'll be able to attend raids. Effective immediately, Laude is the acting guild leader. I've given him permission to promote people to Assistant ranks to help him out, and I'll still be keeping an eye on everything as best I can.
I don't know what else to really say here, except "Wish me luck!" Also, I'm sorry if I've been kind of a jerk lately. All my stresses are piling up and making it hard for me to keep my calm.
EDIT: No sooner did I post this, did I get a phone call to arrange an interview. So, we'll see Wednesday.
Well, we've been sitting in it for a week. Patch 3.3. The end of the expansion. Three new 5-player dungeons, 4 new raid bosses, and, according to Blizzard, over 1800 new items added to the game. On top of the new content, we also have some holiday content starting today! I've decided I'm going to start posting these blog-like things weekly on the front page. This gives the page some extra content for you guys to check, among other things, and will hopfully help to keep you coming to the forums.
Icecrown Citadel
Well, Friday we attempted Icecrown Citadel. Learned the way the trash behaves in the beginning of the dungeon, learned how fun traps are, and attempted Lord Marrowgar. I won't be lying when I say we didn't go into this with 100% strength. The fact that we had to PUG 3 people made the raid start late. On top of not listening very well to instructions, the PUG'd healer and one PUG'd DPS flaked out and fake disconnected on us, which put us in a pinch. We also didn't go in there with our strongest tanks, either, which kind of threw a wrench in the works. We did manage to get him to about 50%, and after the latest bugfix notes on Marrowgar, I'm rather certain we'll stomp him this week. My thoughts is that he was hitting as hard on 10-man as he was on 25-man, which would explain why the tanks were taking so much damage.
Listed below are recent fixes we have applied to the game. Keep in mind that some of these changes may not be active until after the realm has been restarted.
In Ulduar, the Salvaged Demolisher’s Hurl Boulder ability will now properly ignite tar.
Vault of Archavon bosses are again able to be hit by area of effect abilities.
Chains of Ice is no longer limited to a single target. In addition, when Chains of Ice is used on a snare immune target with Everlasting Winter talented, it will once again apply Frost Fever.
Druids will now be able to shapeshift out of a spell-reflected Entangling Roots spell.
The trinket Ephemeral Snowflake will now be triggered by all healing spells.
The players’ Gunship will now appropriately dock after achieving victory.
Lord Marrowgar will now do significantly less melee damage in both the 10 player normal and 10 player heroic difficulty.
Everlasting Affliction can now refresh the duration of Corruption on a target when the Warlock casts Shadow Bolt. This talent also refreshes the duration of Corruption with Drain Life and Haunt.
The Feast of Winter Veil
To quote the Dwarves, ""Ahhh, winter... Yes... Winter..." The Feast of Winter Veil is here! It's Christmas time in the real world, and WoW reflects that by decking the cities in festive lights, decorated trees, and even a quest(and achievement) to save Metzen, one of Greatfather Winter's eight magical reindeer! WoW.com's got a great article written up already to walk you through all of these achievements. You can view that here: The OverAchiever: Guide to Winter Veil.
Also, on Christmas Day, you can go to Ironforge's tree and open your presents! You get a different amount of presents depending on your level, I believe. I think if you're above level 60, then you should be fine to get all of them. From what I understand, the gift this year is a BB Gun, with which you need to shoot the other faction leaders. Go go naked runs through horde cities!
Upcoming Raid Schedule
If you'll notice, I've adjusted the raid schedule for this month to account for the holidays. This week, we have a normal raid schedule. I do expect people who can make it to be here, unless otherwise stated. Next week is light -- on the Wednesday, Dec 23rd, it's just Ony/TOC/VOA; no ICC that week. The day after Christmas, so long as enough people have signed up for the Secret Santa event(as of the time this is posted, there are not enough participants), we will have an in-game gift-giving party. (If enough people do not sign up, this will be canceled.)(DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.) The week after Christmas, on Tuesday, Dec 29th we will do Ony/VOA/TOC again, followed up by ICC on the next night. After then, we have no raids scheduled until 2010! Oh wait, that's the week after that.
I have filled out January's raid schedule. Unless otherwise noted, that schedule is final. If there is enough interest, then we will start doing alt runs on seperate days through TOC and Ulduar. Also we will talk about Ulduar 10 Hard Modes and TOGC after the holidays. There *will* be another Guild meeting sometime next month. There will be a calendar note and forums post, again, once the date for that is determined.
Also, yes, I know that's a picture of a rabbit and a squirrel, and not a raid boss.
Battered Hilt Well, I know I told you guys last week "Go get your Batterd Hilt!" but... it seems they've nerfed the droprate, horribly. Most sources are saying it's now a .001 to .01% drop. If you're really feeling overzealous and can find one on the AH, I hear they're going for like 14-30k gold. My only suggestion, honestly, would be to run Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron and Halls of Reflection on Heroic, daily, and hope to get one of the three of them on randoms to maximize your chances.
EDIT: According to WoW.com, the drop rate of the Batterd Hilt has been increased. But this could just mean it went from 0.001% to 0.01%. We'll see, though.
I know how much you guys check the forums, so I've decided to do more posts like this to try to get you to look here more often.
Anywho, as I've been saying for weeks now, Patch 3.3 has hit today. This patch is meaningful for alot of us for many different reasons. Some of us want more loot, some want new fights, and some, like me, are looking forward to this for the lore. I mean, we finally get to beat Warcraft 3! ...in a sense.
There are alot of things to do with the coming of this patch, and I'd like to break it down for everyone a bit, from the small stuff, to the bigger stuff.
EDIT: Added the 3.3 Trailer. So, does that look like "FAIL OF THE LICH KING" to anyone else, at a glance?
Quel'Delar If you guys have been tracking the notes on the PTR and the blue postings about some of the new lore-based questlines -- or ever wondered what that sword by the tourney grounds sticking outta the ice is all about -- you'll have heard about this sword. Lore-wise, this blade is seeped in the history of the dragons and elves. If you'd like to read more on it, check Blizzard's preview page.
From a simple in-game "gimme lewts!!11one" standpoint, the questline surrounding this sword is a must-do. To start the quest, you need to do the new heroic dungeons(which we'll get to in a moment). If memory serves, the hilt of the Quel'Delar is a random drop from the dungeons on heroic. You get the Battered Hilt, which starts the quest, and then you just go from there. For more information, check MMO-Champion's write up for the questline, and for the different rewards you can get from the quest. I *highly recommend* that you try to get the weapons from this quest ASAP! They're item level 251, which is better than TOC10!
LFG Tool
I know you guys have heard me babbling about the LFG tool for a few weeks now, and I've already said the info on it over and over and over, so I'll just briefly touch on it.
This tool is kind of a big deal. It completely changes the "Daily Heroic/Dungeon" aspect of the game. What we're used to is about to get completely re-done.
No more will we scramble back into a dungeon to get a quest item, just to find nothing where there was a boss's corpse! No more will we have to call a GM when we forget to loot! No more will we have to worry about getting a crap-tastic PUG and getting saved to an incomplete instance!
With the new LFG tool -- the Dungeon Finder, Blizz is calling it -- we will now get 2 Emblems of Frost upon completion of the first random dungeon. Bad group? Can't finish it? Ended up with Occulus as your random Dungeon? No problem, just leave the group, wait 15 minutes, and find another! Not to mention, even after you've finished your first dungeon of the day, if you continue to use the Dungeon Finder, each dungeon you finish will reward you two Emblems of Triumph on top of everything else. The coolest thing about the LFG Tool is that it circumvents lockouts, so you don't have to worry about getting saved while PUGing ever again. Not to mention, if you use the tool to PUG with 100 random people, total, you'll receive the Achievement, Looking for Multitudes, which rewards you the non-combat pet, Perky Pug.
Oh, also, you get money from completing random dungeons, it's cross-server so you'll always find a group, and it works at any level, so you can finally get those lowbie dungeon quests done.
Icecrown Citadel Dungeons Yeah, you guys have been waiting a while for these, huh?
Well, I'm not gonna talk much about them, but I'll just give a heads up instead. These dungeons need attunements. They progress, story-wise, in a very set order. The questline starts in Dalaran with a quest to speak to Jaina in the Forge of Souls. From there, Jaina leads you through to the Pit of Saron, and to the Halls of Reflection, ultimately to a run-for-your-life moment. I won't go into details here, but I will say that it looks rather epic.
Speaking of epic, I've been saying it all week, but use the next few days after the patch to grind heroics, get badges, and use the new dungeons to fill in spots in your gear. For a list of items that drop from the three new dungeons, check out MMO-Champion's list.
Icecrown Citadel Raid And here's what we've all been waiting for. Everything we've done for the last year has lead to this moment. It's time to rise up, bear arms and rush in and fight Artha-- what's that Blizzard? Not yet? Gated content?
That's right. The entire raid will not be available initially. Right off the bat, we only get access to the first four bosses. It'll be a few weeks before we get access to the next wing. . And weeks after *that*, the last wing, plus the Lich King himself. WoW.com's projected that we might not see the end of this until roughly February 2010.
What's even worse than all that? The final boss of each wing will have a "limited attempts" system in place. Initially, we have 5 chances to be Putricide. After the next wing is released, we get 10 attempts split between the two "wing bosses." Then 15 attempts once the third wing and Arthas are available.
Personally, I don't like the system they've put in place. The gated content, sure, it's understandable from a storyline standpoint. But the limited attempts make it feel like they're artificially extending content.
What's this mean for us? It means we need to perfect the each wing encounter quickly!
Raid Weeklys In 3.3, they've added "Raid Weekly" quests, which pit us against various different raid bosses from every major raid in WotLK. Naxx, Ulduar, TOC and ICC are included. Depending on the weekly, we will try to schedule it along with our Thursday raids, else we will do it first thing on Friday. This means don't be late! ...I'm serious.
All in all, there are a TON of things in this patch, and I've only covered some of it. There are a ton of class changes, as well as other changes being made to the game in general. Quest tracking, a new Legendary. Tons and tons of stuff. For a full list of patch notes, go ahead and click here.
Read through it all, familiarize yourself with the new content, and let's get ready to stomp a hole in Icecrown this weekend!
Also, here's a video of our General Vezax fight from this last weekend.
